Mintz Receives Turnaround of the Year Award
Mintz attorneys Ian Hammel and Eric Blythe received a “Turnaround of the Year” award from the Minnesota Chapter of the Turnaround Management Association (TMA).
Hammel and Blythe were recognized for their work representing bondholders for a Minnesota residential adolescent health facility, Cambia Hills of East Bethel. The investors provided funding to acquire and construct the facility, and Mintz was retained when the original operator failed and the facility closed. The multiyear workout led by Ian and Eric culminated in a successful sale and recapitalization of the project, which was the basis for the TMA award. The implementation of the sale was multifaceted, involving an assignment for the benefit of creditors, a state court trust instruction proceeding, and a bankruptcy proceeding. At the conclusion of the workout, the health facility was reopened to the community and the investors received a recovery on their original bond investment.
TMA is a global association of professionals who specialize in corporate renewal, turnaround, and distressed investing.
