A Public Health Call to Arms: The Long Road to FDA’s Misinformation Guidance

Health Member Joanne Hawana was quoted in a Medical Marketing and Media article discussing whether the health industry will embrace new rules related to online health misinformation. 

While the FDA can’t legally require manufacturers to counter misinformation, Joanne explains that it may be in their best legal interest to do so:  “If you see a significant trend of misinformation about the intended use of your product — the warnings or side effects related to the product — it behooves you to ensure that people understand that, number one, the information’s not coming from you. And then number two, that it’s not correct.”
