USCIS Rescheduling an Existing Biometrics Appointment
United States Citizenship and Immigration Services’ (“USCIS”) new appointment tool allows requestors, their attorneys, and accredited representatives to reschedule most biometrics appointments for both paper and online filings using the USCIS online account system.
You cannot use this tool to reschedule if:
- You are requesting to reschedule an appointment that has already been rescheduled two (2) or more times;

- Your appointment has passed.
- Your filed form is:
- Form I-600, Petition to Classify Orphan as an Immediate Relative;

USCIS has the discretion to consider timely requests to reschedule a biometric services appointment for “good cause.” Good cause provides sufficient reason for the requestor’s inability to appear on the scheduled time/date of the appointment. USCIS has noted “good cause” may include, but is not limited to:
- Illness, medical appointment, or hospitalization;
- Previously planned travel;
- Significant life events such as a wedding, funeral, or graduation ceremony;
- Inability to obtain transportation to the appointment;
- Inability to obtain leave from employment or caregiver responsibilities; and
- Late delivery/undelivered biometrics appointment notice(s).
Additionally, USCIS has the discretion to consider untimely requests to reschedule a biometrics appointment and the effect of failing to appear for an appointment. USCIS will only accept untimely rescheduling requests made to the USCIS Contact Center.
