Castell is a litigator who represents clients in complex commercial disputes, consumer class actions, products liability cases, and litigation involving securities law, claims of professional negligence, and commercial real estate. He handles matters before state and federal courts throughout the country and advances his clients' interests through arbitration and alternative dispute resolution. Castell works with clients in a variety of industries, including architecture, construction, and structural engineering.
Castell has experience in all phases of litigation, including preparing complaints and answers, motion practice, discovery, depositions, negotiating settlements, and presenting arguments at hearings. He leverages knowledge gained during his prior work as a practitioner, for the Delaware Department of Justice, and in a clerkship for the District of Columbia Superior Court. Immediately prior to joining Mintz, Castell was a commercial litigation associate at a national law firm, where he counseled and represented clients in a wide range of commercial litigation matters. He also previously practiced at a regional firm and a boutique that specializes in serving design professionals.
In addition to his practice, Castell served on the hiring committee and as coordinator of the summer associate program at his prior firm. Castell also maintains an active pro bono practice, which has included serving on a team that achieved a six-figure settlement on behalf of a pro bono prisoner in a case involving a prison health care system’s deliberate indifference to the prisoner’s medical needs.
While earning his JD, Castell earned several awards for his advocacy skills, including Best Opening Statement during Fordham Law’s 2016 Judge Paul Joseph Kelly, Jr. Invitational Trial Competition and the highest grade distinction in Civil Trial Advocacy.
