The Situation
Mintz represented Madison Square Garden (MSG) in the negotiation of distributed antenna system (DAS) agreements with Verizon Wireless and T-Mobile. The agreements called for Verizon and T-Mobile to install telecommunications equipment on a DAS constructed and installed by MSG in order to provide state-of-the-art data and telecommunications services to patrons at the Sphere at the Venetian in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The Approach
The Mintz team leading for MSG included Member Jeffrey Moerdler and Associate Dan Valenzuela. Mintz is a leading firm for data center and digital infrastructure matters and has represented multiple parties in the development and installation of DAS systems for sports and entertainment venues as well as office and residential buildings around the United States including, for example, the Golden State Warriors Chase Center in San Francisco, the UBS New York Islanders Arena in New York, Madison Square Garden in New York, and the Boston Properties office building portfolio.
The Outcome
The Sphere opened in the fall of 2023 and is the most expensive construction project in Las Vegas history. The Sphere has set the standard for immersive live entertainment venues and renewable energy, and Mintz has continued to work with MSG to negotiate further enhancements and new technology at the Sphere.
