Description

Publicly-held companies, including biotech firms, can become the target of so-called shareholder activists. These individuals or groups may seek changes in governance or financial structuring, to sell part or all of the company, discontinue development programs or reduce compensation. This panel describes common approaches taken by activists in the biotech space and addresses various ways in which companies can prepare themselves for activism, including potential responses to activist demands. The panel will also include discussion on proxy advisory firms, and best practices for communicating with shareholders and engaging with potential activists.
