- Understanding the Different Elements of Construction Risk
Bond transactions often are used to finance large scale construction projects - everything from wood pellet plants to new hospital buildings - the on-time/on-budget completion of which is imperative to ensuring the timely and full payment of debt service on the bonds. There are a multitude of risks in financing new construction, some of which are applicable to all new construction deals and some of which are unique to the particular project. In this event sponsored by Mintz Levin, the panelists will explain these risks, with a view towards offering practical suggestions for bondholders on spotting the red flag issues and risk mitigation strategies. The engineer on the panel, who is currently serving as the construction monitor for bond trustee/bondholders on two wood pellet projects, will discuss and answer questions about the role and responsibilities of the independent construction monitor.
