Miyoko Sato will be a panelist on the Connecticut Turnaround Management Association's webinar "When Colleges Fail Themselves: What Happens as a Turnaround Evolves in to a Wind Down." Though the COVID-19 emergency has battered many industries, it was not the beginning of what currently besieges colleges and universities. Issues have been brewing beneath the surface of these proud institutions for a long time. The discussion will address:

  • Academic wind down and "Teach-out" obligations
  • Closed School Discharge liabilities
  • Dealing with Title IV funding, the Department of Education and various other accrediting agencies
  • Retention of student transcript records
  • Corporate veil-piercing exposure to trustees and officers
  • Limited insolvency option
