Date: September 23, 2022

Time: 1:00PM - 4:30PM (EST)

Location: Boston College Law School East Wing 120 885 Centre St Newton, MA

A number of issues have dominated the bankruptcy world over the last few years, but none more so than the use of bankruptcy to shield non-debtors from liability. Panels of leading practitioners will discuss non-consensual third party releases (e.g. opioid cases and other tort cases), divisive merger statutes (aka the “Texas Two-Step”) and venue reform.  Then there is the economy.  While all economic cycles have their own unique characteristics, perhaps none more than today’s, a panel will lead a discussion on how the economy does (and does not) affect the insolvency practice. Bill Kannel will lead a panel on Divisive Mergers which will cover recent mass tort bankruptcy cases, attempts to shield affiliates from tort liability including use of divisive merger statutes and the varying results of such attempts.
