Members Alexander Trimble and Siegmund Gutman will be participating on a panel titled “Beyond the obvious: novelty, non-obviousness, and the inventive step in polymorph patents and beyond” at the Life Sciences Patent Network North America Fall 2024 conference. The panel will examine the complexities of these fundamental patent requirements in practice, with a special focus on polymorph patents and related areas.
Speakers
Alexander R. Trimble, PhD, is a Mintz Member and patent attorney who provides pharmaceutical companies with strategic legal and business advice. Alex evaluates matters related to patentability and freedom-to-operate issues.
Siegmund Y. (“Sige”) Gutman is a nationally recognized patent litigator and counselor who serves as Chair of Mintz’s Life Sciences Litigation Practice and Co-chair of the firm’s Patent Litigation Practice. Drawing on his background and industry experience in molecular and cell biology and biophysical chemistry, Sige litigates cases involving biologic drug patents, life sciences innovations, and the Hatch-Waxman Act. He also develops and executes market exclusivity and freedom to operate strategies and handles inter partes patent office actions.
