Ayaz Shaikh Listed Among Top 30 U.S. Lawyers for Project Finance by Euromoney
Mintz is pleased to announce that Ayaz R. Shaikh, Co-chair of the firm’s Projects and Infrastructure Practice, has been recognized in Euromoney’s Expert Guides: Best of the Best USA 2021, which ranks him among the top 30 U.S. practitioners for project finance. A special report featuring his selection, and the other top 30 lawyers across 18 practices, was published in April.
Mr. Shaikh represents domestic and foreign companies, sponsors, lenders, funds and other investors, governments, multilateral agencies, and other participants in the structuring, development, construction, financing, acquisition or sale of a wide array of energy and infrastructure projects. His transactions have covered a diverse spectrum of industries: from renewable energy facilities to satellites, and sports arenas to cell towers. They have often involved foreign governments and multilateral organizations. He has also represented lenders and debtors in project restructurings.
Over the course of his career, Mr. Shaikh has led several pioneering transactions, such as the maiden project implementing the Kyoto Protocol, advising the World Bank in establishing the model framework for emission credits generating renewable energy projects (the first Emissions Reductions Purchase Agreement), a transaction that kicked-off the global clean energy revolution. He advised a Middle East government on its first independent power projects, and a Central Asian government on a new rail infrastructure network.
Mr. Shaikh is consistently ranked among top lawyers in his field by Chambers Global, Euromoney, Who’s Who Legal, and The Legal 500, among others. He previously received Smart CEO’s Esquire Award, and was named a “Project Finance MVP” by Law360 (one of five attorneys selected in the United States).
