'Bridgegate' Ruling Further Limits Public Corruption Prosecutions
Mintz White Collar Defense and Government Investigations Member Jason P.W. Halperin and Law Clerk David Drew co-authored an article published by Law360 that examined the U.S. Supreme Court’s recent ruling in Kelly v. United States, which reversed the federal convictions of officials with ties to Former Governor of New Jersey Chris Christie that resulted from “Bridgegate.” The article takes a longer look at the Supreme Court’s rulings in the area of public corruption over the past 20 years, and notes how an unusually unanimous Court has repeatedly sought to rein in federal public corruption prosecutions.
