Mintz Attorneys to Moderate Panels at Second Annual Workplace Law Seminar
Carmelyn P. Malalis, Commissioner and Chair of the New York City Commission on Human Rights, will give the keynote address at the Second Annual Employment Law Summit presented by Mintz, Cohn, Ferris, Glovsky and Popeo, P.C. The seminar will take place on Thursday, January 28 at The Princeton Club in New York City.
“Since her arrival, Commissioner Malalis has led the charge as the Commission has stepped up its enforcement efforts of the New York City Human Rights Law in the workplace and employers have taken notice,” said Michael S. Arnold, a Member in Mintz Employment, Labor & Benefits Practice. “We are thrilled to have her deliver the keynote address at our employment law seminar.”
“The New York City Human Right Law is one of the strongest in the nation in protecting people against discrimination, including workplace discrimination,” said Carmelyn P. Malalis, Commissioner and Chair of the NYC Commission on Human Rights. “The Commission works tirelessly to protect hardworking New Yorkers against employment discrimination, including in three recently added areas of the law, the Fair Chance Act, Stop Credit Discrimination Act, and a bill that protects employees who provide care to loved ones. The full impact of these laws can only be fully realized by working with business communities and employers to help create more inclusive spaces for all New Yorkers. A big thanks to Mintz for creating an opportunity to talk about these important new protections.”
The Employment Law Summit will focus on the most important issues facing senior executives, HR professionals, and in-house counsel as they enter 2016: wage and hour, leave management, handbooks, ACA, and more. Panels include: “Managing Workplace Policies in a Rapidly Changing Regulatory Environment,” “Diversity and Inclusion in the Workplace,” “Affordable Care Act Reporting Requirements in Plain English,” “Leave Management in an Ever-Changing Workplace and Regulatory Environment,” and “Exploring the Proposed Revisions to the FLSA White Collar Exemption Rules and Other Pressing Wage and Hour Issues.”
Mintz attorneys Jen Rubin, Tyrone Thomas, Alden Bianchi, Jessica Catlow and David Lagasse will serve as presenters and panel moderators.
