Mintz's Employee Benefits & Executive Compensation Practice Chair Alden Bianchi was quoted in an article published by Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly discussing the rightful recipient of the proceeds of a life insurance policy following the 2020 stabbing deaths of a husband and wife. Alden commented on the role of the insurance carrier, "The [insurance] carrier did exactly the right thing here... If they paid out one beneficiary, you know darn well they were going to end up in a lawsuit with another one... They might as well take control of the narrative...“You have a trial, you bring in the expert witnesses, and the judge is going to have to make a decision... We’ll never know what really happened, but a judge will determine what happened for legal purposes. ”
