EU's Extensive Rulemaking Spurs US Regulators, Say Former Agency, Division Heads
Antitrust Co-chair Bruce Sokler spoke to the National Law Journal on the influential role of the European Union in establishing regulatory standards across various domains, prompting US regulators to address issues such as artificial intelligence. Bruce noted that the FTC and Justice Department’s antitrust division have cooperated with the EU on merger investigations and emphasized the importance of international cooperation when it comes to AI.
Bruce said, “There has to be some collaborations, particularly on things that have worldwide effects like AI.”
