Five Mintz Attorneys to Speak at 2015 International Bar Association Annual Conference
Five Mintz, Cohn, Ferris, Glovsky and Popeo, P.C. Members are speaking at the 2015 International Bar Association (IBA) Conference. The annual conference is taking place October 4-9 at the Austria Center in Vienna, Austria.
Bob Bodian, Managing Member of Mintz, will participate in a panel discussion entitled, “The Changing Nature of Talent and Leadership in Law Firms” on Monday, October 5. In this interactive session, panelists will discuss why firms can no longer overlook the talent and leadership challenges that the profession faces as well as some successful examples that illustrate the most progressive approaches that exist in the legal world and in other professional services firms.
Douglas Hauer, Co-chair of the firm’s EB-5 Financing Practice, will participate in a panel discussion entitled, “On The Move – A Global Immigration,” on Thursday, October 8. This session will provide an overview of news and trends in immigration law in various jurisdictions.
Richard R. Kelly, Co-leader of the firm’s International Practice, will participate in a panel discussion entitled, “Private Equity in Early Stage Start-Ups,” on Wednesday, October 7. Panelists will examine the development of the worldwide market of private equity in early stage start-ups including venture capital finance.
Heidi A. Lawson, Co-leader of Mintz International Practice and Chair of the firm’s Crisis, Risk Management & Executive Protection Practice, will speak during a session entitled, “The Challenges and Opportunities Facing the Internet,” on Tuesday, October 6. Ms. Lawson’s presentation, "Internet Technologies and The Way Governments Are Tackling Them," will address issues around social media control, net neutrality, security, and cybercrime.
Stephen M. Weiner, Chair of Mintz Health Law Practice, will moderate a panel entitled, “Having a Family: A Human Right,” on Thursday, October 8. This working session will address the human right to have a family, and the way it has developed in different jurisdictions, which has extended the recognition of the rights through surrogacy and reproductive assisted fertilization, among others.
