Governor Baker Taps ML Strategies’ Stephen Silveira for Post on Commission on the Future of Transportation
ML Strategies, LLC, a wholly-owned consulting subsidiary of Mintz Levin, is pleased to announce Stephen J. Silveira, Senior Vice President, has been appointed to serve on the Commission on the Future of Transportation in the Commonwealth. Governor Charlie Baker made the announcement on January 23, 2018. The Commission is slated to issue a report by December 1, 2018.
Mr. Silveira and the other members of the commission will focus on the following key areas, among others, likely to have an impact on the future of transportation in Massachusetts:
- Climate and resiliency;
- Transportation electrification;
- Autonomous and connected vehicles;
- Transit and mobility services; and
- Land use and demographic trends.
Mr. Silveira has spent years working on planning and transportation issues. He was appointed first by Governor Romney in 2004, and then by Governor Patrick in 2006, to chair the Commonwealth’s Transportation Finance Commission (TFC) that issued two ground breaking reports that have influenced transportation planning and financing decisions for the past ten years. He was also a member of the Project Selection Advisory Council that was charged with improving the process used by MassDOT to select capital projects. He is currently a gubernatorial appointee to the Metropolitan Area Planning Council (MAPC) and served on the Executive Committee for over ten years. Mr. Silveira also chairs the New England Council’s Transportation Committee. Prior to joining ML Strategies, Mr. Silveira worked at the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) for almost nine years.
