HIPAA Won’t Protect You If Prosecutors Want Your Reproductive Health Records
Mintz Member Dianne Bourque was quoted in Stat discussing the overturn of Roe v. Wade and how patient's health data may not be shielded from state law enforcement and could lead to legal action. Dianne commented on the role of HIPPA and said, “If the request was properly served and otherwise consistent with state law, it would be difficult to challenge, although an attorney could always try to request protections for that information after the fact”.
