Inside one state's effort to help borrowers erase their student debt in bankruptcy
In light of the climbing rate of borrowers buckling under the crushing weight of their student loan debt, the Massachusetts Bar Association launched the Student Loan Bankruptcy Assistance Project, aimed at convincing more attorneys to represent borrowers in bankruptcy trying to have their debt wiped on a pro bono basis. Kerime Akoglu, a Mintz insurance and contract dispute litigator, is quoted in the Washington Post’s article on the issue, where she discusses how she uses her skills to improve the nation’s student debt problem.
