Leading Patent Litigator Joins Mintz Intellectual Property Practice In San Diego

SAN DIEGO – Mintz is pleased to announce that Reza Dokhanchy has joined the firm’s Intellectual Property (IP) Practice as a Member, based in San Diego.

“We are excited to welcome Reza to Mintz,” said Mintz Managing Member Bob Bodian. “With his impressive litigation experience, we add further breadth to our market-leading IP practice while also demonstrating our ongoing commitment to grow in California with top legal talent. Reza’s practice, firmly entrenched in the hardware, software, and consumer electronics industries, dovetails well with the firm's current client base and core specialties.”

Mr. Dokhanchy is an accomplished patent and trade secret litigator who represents plaintiffs and defendants in the high-tech and life sciences fields. He draws on his strong technical background to successfully lead cases in federal district courts, at the International Trade Commission (ITC), and before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB). Mr. Dokhanchy handles disputes across a wide range of technical areas, including cellular communications, Wi-Fi, internet and computer networking, semiconductors, wearable electronics, computer architecture, computer vision and modeling, emergency systems, electronic surveillance systems, automotive systems, consumer electronics, fintech, and MRI technology.

A seasoned litigator, Mr. Dokhanchy has extensive experience in all phases of litigation and managing client relationships. He argues hearings and motions before district court judges and inter partes review (IPR) panels, examines witnesses at trial, and manages discovery. Mr. Dokhanchy also advises clients on pre-litigation and general IP strategy matters, including issues relating to transactions such as venture capital activity and mergers and acquisitions.

Prior to joining Mintz, Mr. Dokhanchy was an intellectual property partner at Kirkland & Ellis, where he led teams in IP litigation.

Apart from his practice, Mr. Dokhanchy actively engages in pro bono work. His focus includes aiding veterans in securing benefits, providing counsel to nonprofit organizations serving homeless youth and other unhoused populations, and offering guidance on matters pertaining to election integrity.

Mr. Dokhanchy’s arrival is part of the firm's ongoing efforts to strategically enhance its West Coast presence. In fact, earlier this month, Mintz also welcomed litigator Marc Axelbaum and health law attorney, Dan Cody, further augmenting its capabilities and offerings in the region.
