Legal Tech's Predictions for Data Privacy in 2025
Privacy & Cybersecurity Co-chair Scott Lashway recently provided insights for Legaltech News about his predictions for the data privacy landscape in 2025.
Scott says, "2025 will bring continued disruption in the privacy arena and a renewed focus on a federal privacy bill. While the political winds in Washington may shift our attention away from enforcement activities, there’s no doubt the courts, plaintiffs’ counsel, and threat actors will continue to present challenges to how our technology is deployed, evolves, and is used. Healthcare is one industry that will remain on the frontline of privacy and cybersecurity risks, as it remains a focus of criminal actors, and because organizations continue to identify new data demands and use cases. Meanwhile, technology development is challenging outdated laws, which plaintiffs have dusted off to pursue significant recoveries.”
