Mintz Achieves Certification by the Workplace Equity & Civility Initiative
Mintz Fosters Equity and Promotes a Positive Workplace through Signed Commitment and Employee Participation in Anti-Harassment and Civility Workshop
Mintz is pleased to announce that it has been certified by the Workplace Equity & Civility Initiative (WE & CI), a collaborative effort led by the Lawyers Club of San Diego (Lawyers Club), focused on fostering equity and creating positive workplaces in the San Diego region and beyond through the adoption of a written commitment and training for employees regarding civility in the workplace and bystander empowerment.
Mintz is at the forefront of this effort, and was among the first employers to sign on to the WE & CI Commitment. In order to become a certified workplace, after signing the WE&CI Commitment, employees in Mintz’s San Diego office participated in “The Bystander Challenge,” the National Conflict Resolution Center (NCRC’s)’s anti-harassment and workplace civility workshop.
Mintz Member Jennifer Rubin, who serves as Co-Chair of WE & CI, has emphasized the importance of increasing accountability in the workplace. “Through signing the WE & CI Commitment and attending anti-harassment and civility training, both employers and employees agree to be accountable for their collective efforts to make their workplaces better,” she said.
“I’m delighted by the enthusiasm from my colleagues at Mintz to take action through WE & CI and engage positively around the issues of sexual harassment, gender discrimination and civility in the workplace,” she added.
WE & CI began as a response to the #MeToo movement with the vision of bringing together all aspects of San Diego employers–small businesses, larger corporations, nonprofits and labor organizations–to collaborate on tools to prevent workplace harassment and the promotion of equal pay in the workplace. The initiative is spearheaded by the Lawyers Club, and supported by the efforts of the National Conflict Resolution Center and The San Diego Union-Tribune.
“Fostering an inclusive workplace and supportive environment for all of our team members has long been a top priority at Mintz,” said Dan Pascucci, Managing Member of Mintz’s San Diego office.
“Our participation in NCRC’s Bystander Challenge and completion of its certification process was enlightening, informative and an important step in empowering our team at all levels to contribute to the ongoing effort to build and maintain that positive workspace,” he added.
In connection with this achievement, Mintz will be listed in The San Diego Union-Tribune as certified as dedicated to an equitable and civil workplace.
