Mintz Achieves Perfect Score on 2021 Corporate Equality Index
For 14th consecutive year, firm earns top score of 100 on Human Rights Campaign (HRC) Foundation’s annual scorecard for LGBTQ workplace equality
Mintz is pleased to share that the firm has once again achieved a perfect score of 100 on the 2021 Corporate Equality Index (CEI), the nation’s foremost benchmarking survey and report measuring company policies and practices related to LGBTQ workplace equality, which is administered by the HRC Foundation, the educational arm of the nation’s largest LGBTQ civil rights organization. For the 14th consecutive year, Mintz satisfied all of the criteria and received the designation of a 2021 CEI Best Place to Work for LGBTQ Equality.
“We are proud to again earn the top score of 100 on the HRC Foundation’s CEI, reflecting the firm’s continued dedication to fostering an inclusive workplace culture,” said Narges M. Kakalia, Director of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion at Mintz. “In the past year in particular, Mintz has instituted critical steps to addressing outcome disparities, and has facilitated open and constructive discussions on equality and other social justice issues.”
The CEI 2021 survey evaluated 1,142 companies, including Fortune 500 employers and AmLaw 200 law firms, on criteria under four central pillars: non-discrimination policies across business entities; equitable benefits for LGBTQ workers and their families; supporting an inclusive culture; and corporate social responsibility.
Mintz maintains a longstanding commitment to increasing diversity and inclusion at the firm and in the legal community. The firm’s Diversity Committee helps develop policies and initiatives that impact recruiting, mentoring and, ultimately, retention of diverse employees. The firm also maintains and supports several active affinity groups, such as Mintz Pride for LGBTQ attorneys and professional staff, MIATTY, for minority attorneys and senior professionals, and the firm’s Women’s Initiative, for female peer support and mentoring. In addition, in November 2020, Mintz appointed Narges Kakalia as the firm’s first Director of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. In this role, she leads the firm in developing and implementing its DEI strategy and goals.
