On May 25, 2018, Smyths Toys Superstores completed its acquisition of Toys “R” Us’ businesses in Austria, Germany and Switzerland following the parent company’s U.S. bankruptcy. The acquisition created the largest toy retailer in Europe.

Smyths Toys successfully owned and operated 110 toy stores and online shops in Ireland and Great Britain. The deal added 90 stores and on-line operations across the three European countries. 

Mintz served as US legal counsel for Smyths Toys, partnering with lead counsel, Denis Bacina of PwC Legal in Germany. The Mintz legal team was led by Adrienne Walker and included Marc Mantell and Tali Tuchin.
