Attorneys from Mintz, Cohn, Ferris, Glovsky and Popeo, P.C.  represented GE in the acquisition and permitting of GE Innovation Point, GE’s new corporate headquarters. 

The acquisition of the project site marks a major milestone for GE, which in January 2016 announced its decision to move to Boston.  Attorneys from the firm’s Environmental, Real Estate and Construction Law practices and their colleagues at ML Strategies worked seamlessly with GE and its consultants in designing and implementing a plan to expedite both the acquisition of the GE Innovation Point site and the many approvals necessary to begin construction.

ML Strategies, the firm’s consulting affiliate, provided strategic advice to the company when it was considering relocating its headquarters to Boston, particularly in GE’s consideration of economic incentives put forth by the city and the Commonwealth. “We are pleased to have played a role in assisting GE with this momentous milestone,” said Senator William “Mo” Cowan, President and CEO of ML Strategies. “We are delighted to welcome the company to Boston and we wish them continued success in their new headquarters.”

The project will include the rehabilitation of two historic buildings and construction of a new, 12-story structure. GE will begin work on the historic buildings immediately and plans to break ground on the new building this spring.

Hill, Co-chair of the Construction Law Practice. In addition to Senator Cowan, Julie Cox, Senior Vice President of Government Relations & Manager of Operations, and Robert J. Ryan, Vice President of Project Development for ML Strategies, continue to assist GE with the project.
