Mintz Appoints Megan Gates as Chair of National, Leading Corporate Practice

Mintz is pleased to announce that Member and Co-chair of the firm’s Securities & Capital Markets Practice Megan N. Gates will assume the role of Chair of the firm’s national and leading Corporate Practice, effective immediately. In this newly formed position, Ms. Gates will oversee the firm’s more than 150 transactional attorneys and other professionals in five offices across the United States and provide strategic direction for this in-demand and multidisciplinary group.

Ms. Gates advises public companies on capital-raising transactions, U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission reporting obligations, and mergers and acquisitions. Passionate about the life sciences industry, she has over 25 years of experience in the biotechnology field. In recognition of her professional accomplishments, for the past two years, Ms. Gates has been recommended by The Legal 500 United States for Healthcare: Life Sciences and Capital Markets: Equity. In 2020, she was also named to The Deal’s Top Women in Dealmaking list in the M&A category. Ms. Gates is also a leader in Mintz’s Environmental, Social, and Corporate Governance (ESG) Practice, focused on helping clients navigate complex, rapidly-evolving ESG concerns and priorities, such as responsible investing and investor demands for accountability. She also serves on various firm committees, including formerly on the Policy Committee, the firm’s governing body, and mentors women Associates. Ms. Gates joined the firm in September 2000 from Thermo Fisher Scientific. Active in the Boston legal and nonprofit communities, Ms. Gates holds leadership roles and serves on the boards of Pine Street Inn, the Boston Bar Foundation, and the Japan Society of Boston, among other organizations.
