Carl A. Kukkonen III, a Member of the Intellectual Property Section of Mintz, Cohn, Ferris, Glovsky and Popeo, P.C., has been selected for the Daily Journal’s 2014 Top Intellectual Property Lawyers in California list. Mr. Kukkonen is one of just 25 portfolio managers/patent prosecutors to be recognized by the Daily Journal.

The Daily Journal’s annual list highlights the California attorneys who have had the greatest impact on the field of intellectual property within the past year. Each of the honorees are featured in the April 9 edition of the publication.

The Daily Journal profile highlights Mr. Kukkonen’s extensive work over more than a decade for software company SAP AG. The article notes that Mr. Kukkonen is part of a team that has handled “more than one thousand patent applications for SAP related to various offerings, including analytics, enterprise search, business intelligence and workflow processes.”

Mr. Kukkonen acts as a trusted advisor to companies worldwide ranging in size from multinational corporations such as SAP, Fair Isaac Corporation (FICO), Dräger, CareFusion, and Endress+Hauser to venture-backed and pre-venture backed startups across many different technology areas including software / high technology, medical devices, cleantech, and financial services.  Mr. Kukkonen’s practice focuses on strategic intellectual property counseling, including advice on patent infringement and validity, preparation and prosecution of patent applications, US and international trademark counseling and prosecution, branding strategies, trademark and copyright infringement, domain name disputes, and licensing.

He received his B.S. from Harvey Mudd College, and his J.D., with honors, from George Washington University.
