Daniel J. Herling, a Member of the Litigation Section of Mintz, Cohn, Ferris, Glovsky and Popeo, P.C., is participating in a panel discussion at the International Consumer Product Health & Safety Organization’s (ICPHSO) 2016 Annual Meeting & Training Symposium. The conference is taking pace February 29-March 3 at the Renaissance Hotel in Washington, DC.

Mr. Herling and his co-presenter, Lyn Pesterfield, Regulatory Compliance Manager; Prym Consumer USA, will discuss the challenges associated with doing business in California, one of the largest economies in the world, and the steps companies must take to be in compliance with its many unique statues. The session will address how to ensure products are in compliance, how to handle notices of violation, recent settlement trends, and how to prepare for recent or proposed changes to these regulations.

Founded in 1993, ICPHSO is the only organization which attracts a global membership of health and safety professionals which meets annually to exchange ideas, share information, and address health and safety concerns affecting all consumers. ICPHSO members represent U.S. and global government agencies, manufacturers, importers, retailers, trade associations, certification/testing laboratories, law firms, academia, standards writing organizations, media, and consumer advocacy groups.

Mr. Herling’s practice is focused on product liability issues relating to consumer products. Specific to consumer class action lawsuits, Mr. Herling has successfully defended clients in class actions alleging false or misleading labeling or advertising of foods, cosmetics, over-the-counter drugs, dietary supplements, and homeopathic products. These claims have involved probiotics, “natural” ingredients, “clinically-proven” results, lack of efficacy, lack of substantiation, and failure to disclose.
