Mintz Attorney Handed 2022 Shining Star Award By Victim Rights Law Center
BOSTON – Mintz Associate Katharine Foote has been honored with the Shining Star award by the Victim Rights Law Center (VRLC) for pro bono support that she provides to survivors of sexual assault in collaboration with the VRLC.
“We were so pleased that the Victim Rights Law Center recognized Katharine with this prestigious pro bono award. Katherine has been a stalwart pro bono volunteer for many years, and she now manages the firm’s flagship signature pro bono project assisting sexual and domestic violence survivors,” said Susan Finegan, who leads Mintz’s Pro Bono practice.
Ms. Foote received the award because she is a “zealous advocate for survivors who are minors and for the protection of survivors’ housing rights”. She has been volunteering as a pro bono attorney with the VRLC since 2019.
An attorney in Mintz’s litigation section, Ms. Foote focuses her practice on complex commercial, appellate, and securities litigation, as well as criminal defense. She represents consumer brands and retail and manufacturing clients in business disputes and commercial litigation with particular expertise in breach of contract cases and complex Lanham Act claims.
She additionally leads Mintz’s flagship pro bono program, the Domestic Violence Project, and personally represents survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault. Most recently, she represented a juvenile survivor of sexual assault on a privilege issue of first impression in front of the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court.
The VRLC holds its annual Shining Star Gala to support VRLC’s continued work on behalf of sexual assault survivors and recognize the extraordinary efforts of its volunteers.
