Mintz Attorney Megan N. Gates Elected To Boston Bar Association Council
Megan N. Gates, Co-chair of the Securities & Capital Markets Practice Group of Mintz, Cohn, Ferris, Glovsky and Popeo, P.C., has been elected to serve on the Boston Bar Association’s (BBA) Council for a three year term beginning in August 2015. Ms. Gates previously served as Co-chair of the BBA’s Business Transactions Section and Securities Law Committee.
The Boston Bar Association is a non-profit, voluntary membership organization of 12,000 attorneys drawn from private practice, corporations, government agencies, legal aid organizations, the courts, and law schools. The Council serves as the governing body of the Association. It sets Association policy, makes major financial decisions, and provides crucial oversight on behalf of its members. Members of the Council support the Association’s mission to advance the highest standards of excellence for the legal profession, to facilitate access to justice, to serve the community at large and to promote diversity and inclusion.
Ms. Gates advises publicly traded life sciences and technology companies on financings, mergers and acquisitions, and compliance and disclosure obligations under the Securities Exchange Act of 1934. In addition to her legal work, Ms. Gates serves on the Corporate Board Committee of The Boston Club and on the boards of directors of the Pine Street Inn, New England’s largest non-profit organization dedicated to preventing and ending homelessness, and Greater Boston Legal Services, the oldest and largest legal services program in New England. She is the former Chair of the Board of Directors of Casa Myrna, one of Boston's leading non-profits working to end domestic violence in the lives of women and children.
