Mintz Attorney Tyrone P. Thomas to Speak at Millennium Leadership Initiative Institute
Tyrone P. Thomas, a Member of the Employment and Education Practice Groups of Mintz, Cohn, Ferris, Glovsky and Popeo, P.C., is speaking at the 2016 Millennium Leadership Initiative (MLI) Institute presented by the American Association of State Colleges and Universities (AASCU). The conference is taking place June 11-14 in Washington, DC.
Mr. Thomas will examine the latest developments relating to executive contracts in higher education. In the two sessions presented by Mr. Thomas, he will discuss executive compensation, shared governance, and addressing high-profile disputes. This is the tenth consecutive year that Mr. Thomas has been honored to serve as speaker for the MLI Institute.
The purpose of the MLI is to prepare, enhance, and advance the prospect for qualified candidates to compete successfully for positions of president or chancellor at universities or colleges, public or private. The MLI conference was established to assist individuals who are members of underrepresented groups at the executive level. Its goal is to promote diversity in leadership roles to match the changing diversity of the student population within the nation.
Mr. Thomas advises boards, presidents, and other senior executives on terms for employment and consulting agreements. In the course of his practice, Mr. Thomas has advised on executive employment arrangements involving over 200 academic institutions, including both public and private universities. He is also a national adviser on legal issues concerning intercollegiate athletics.
