Mintz Boosts National Litigation Practice with the Addition of James Rapore in Los Angeles
James Rapore, well-known for his extraordinary victories in complex white-collar, government investigations, and high-stakes commercial litigation matters, has joined Mintz as a Member in the firm’s Los Angeles office. The addition of Mr. Rapore expands Mintz’s national litigation practice.
Obtaining the dismissal of federal criminal charges is an extremely rare occurrence. However, Mr. Rapore achieved a complete dismissal of a multi-count indictment alleging wire fraud, securities fraud, and numerous other charges. The client faced over 20 years in prison and fines and restitution of over $100 million. Mr. Rapore is highly regarded for his work to develop and deploy unique approaches to litigation, which are necessary for successful outcomes in complex government proceedings.
Mr. Rapore also has a proven track record of achieving highly favorable outcomes for clients in a wide-range of sophisticated civil litigation matters. For example, Mr. Rapore achieved the dismissal of thousands of cases alleging economic loss against a Fortune Global 100 company. In addition, he has achieved numerous victories in major disputes in the Delaware Court of Chancery. Mr. Rapore’s litigation experience covers a wide-variety of industries, including technology, private equity, investment funds, energy, financial services, professional services, product manufacturing, and government contracting.
In addition to his litigation practice, Mr. Rapore serves as a trusted advisor to companies by assisting them in navigating laws, regulations, and business issues specific to their industries. Such counseling allows companies to achieve their business objectives, while reducing their exposure to litigation and government investigations. Mr. Rapore also advises companies on large business transactions.
“We are pleased to welcome James to the firm,” said Bob Bodian, Managing Member of Mintz. “His arrival immediately deepens our strength and enhances the services we can provide to our clients both in California and nationally, particularly in the areas of litigation and government investigations.”
Prior to joining Mintz, Mr. Rapore was a partner at Kirkland & Ellis LLP.
Notably, Mr. Rapore is the latest in a string of recent high-impact litigation hires, including that of partners Jeremy Vest and Courtney Rockett, and experienced insurance attorneys Deirdre Johnson, Paul Kalish, Suman Chakraborty, Ellen MacDonald Farrell, and Elaine Panagakos.
