Mintz Builds Out Financial Services Practice With Keith Kollmeyer
BOSTON – Mintz has hired Keith Kollmeyer, who has spent his career counseling some of the Nation’s largest financial institutions in litigation and advisory matters related to asset-backed securities (ABS) and other complex financial products. This move adds further fire power to Mintz’s Financial Services offering and depth to the firm’s renowned Disputes Resolution practice.
“Keith joins Mintz with an expertise that will further strengthen the firm’s Litigation and industry-leading Institutional Investor practices. His deep knowledge of financial products – and the related risks and documentation issues that come with them – enhances the range of services we can provide to our clients, including the ability to handle complex ABS disputes. His skills and knowledge will be invaluable to our clients,” said, Mintz Managing Member Bob Bodian.
Mr. Kollmeyer advises clients on ABS and other financial products in distressed situations, regularly providing counsel to corporate trustees, securities administrators, paying agents, servicers, and other parties in the ABS industry. He has provided advice on numerous first-of-their-kind issues and is consistently called upon in unique and challenging circumstances. His capabilities and experience span all product types, including securities backed by residential mortgage loans, whole business assets, private student loans, and other assets. His matters typically involve investors, deal parties, and financial regulators, and he also has experience advising on cross-border issues. He has handled all phases of litigation from trial through appeal and has a great deal of experience with novel Article 77 and trust instruction proceedings.
In addition to his financial products practice, Mr. Kollmeyer has an active pro bono practice that has included immigration removal matters involving unaccompanied minors.
He joins Mintz during a period of growth to the firm’s litigation practice. Late last year, powerhouse litigators Michelle Lipkowitz and Natashia Tidwell joined the firm in Washington, D.C. and Boston, respectively. Ms. Lipkowitz is a seasoned litigator with a multifaceted practice that encompasses complex commercial litigation, white collar defense, and government investigations. Ms. Tidwell focuses her practice on white collar defense and government investigations with a special emphasis on assisting educational institutions in identifying and managing internal and external challenges.
Mr. Kollmeyer’s arrival comes after the firm announced further expansion of its business and footprint as it plans to open an office in Miami.
He joins from Jones Day, where he was a Partner.
