Mintz Forms Pioneering Women’s Health & Technology Practice
BOSTON – Mintz has launched a Women’s Health and Technology practice, bringing together attorneys from across the firm’s transactional, intellectual property, health care and FDA regulatory, and litigation teams with a focus on serving clients in life sciences, specifically FemTech.
Members Ellen Janos, Joanne Hawana, Karen Lovitch (Chair, Health Law Practice & Co-Chair, Health Care Enforcement Defense Practice), and Melanie Levy formed the practice, which will serve clients on both the East and West coasts.
Mintz has been working with companies, entrepreneurs, and investors focused on addressing unmet needs in women’s health for decades. Recent examples include acting for Daré Bioscience in its stock market debut. Since becoming a public company, Daré Bioscience has in-licensed multiple exciting product candidates focused on women’s sexual health, vaginal health, fertility, and contraception and prioritized a goal of achieving FDA marketing approval for one or more products.
“Mintz has been entrenched in the women’s health and technology industries for so many years now that it made sense for us to collaborate as those two industries began to intersect. We’ve been working with clients across the country to help them with their successes, and now that we have a formalized team that will assist with every facet of their business needs, we can help to further prioritize women’s health,” said Ms. Janos, Digital Health Chair at Mintz.
“There is a real opportunity here to heighten awareness and investment into technology that supports and improves women’s health- an area that has so long been underfunded and unrecognized. We are thrilled and motivated to do our part in changing the landscape for women across the country, and even, across the globe,” said Corporate and Capital Markets Member, Ms. Levy.
Clients for the practice include health care providers and their business partners, life sciences companies, and biotechnology developers covering the full spectrum of women’s health from sexual health to contraception to reproduction.
Leveraging our deep transactional, regulatory, intellectual property, and litigation experience in life sciences, our team of attorneys provides women’s health and technology clients with creative and nimble advice. Having operated in this sector for decades, we are mindful of the particular needs and nuances associated with navigating change for females and those who identify as females. Whether you call this sector FemTech, women’s health, or any other moniker, we’ve done it, driven it, and are doing it. We are the firm clients turn to for guidance on these issues.
