Mintz Member Abigail O'Brient Featured Among Los Angeles Business Journal 2020 Leaders in Law Finalists for Bankruptcy
Mintz Member Abigail O'Brient was selected as a finalist in the Bankruptcy category of the Los Angeles Business Journal’s 2020 Leaders in Law awards. In connection with this achievement, Ms. O’Brient was recognized at a virtual awards celebration and featured in a special post-event supplement honoring the leading general counsels and firm-based attorneys in the Los Angeles area for 2020.
Ms. O’Brient’s wide-ranging insolvency and litigation practice focuses on representation of secured and unsecured creditors in bankruptcy cases and other insolvency proceedings in California and nationwide. She routinely represents parties in litigation related to insolvency and distressed debt in state and federal court, as well as purchasers and sellers of distressed assets and bankruptcy trustees and receivers. Ms. O’Brient’s clients value her practical, business-oriented approach to resolving legal issues and her ability to coordinate and manage proceedings pending in multiple courts to achieve positive litigation outcomes.
The Los Angeles Business Journal noted that Ms. O’Brient "has risen to the top in the high demand male-dominated commercial bankruptcy practice due to her ability to lead successful trial teams and guide buyers in distressed transactions.” Her finalist profile also highlighted her representation of Marin Clean Energy in Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E)’s bankruptcy, which the client praised as “nothing short of outstanding.”
Separately, earlier this year, Ms. O’Brient was named to the Los Angeles Business Journal’s 2020 Top Women Attorneys list, alongside Mintz Member Arameh Zargham O’Boyle.
The Los Angeles Business Journal’s annual Leaders in Law awards honor the significant role that in-house counsel play in the success of a business enterprise and recognize the accomplishments of leading attorneys and firms within the Los Angeles business community. Notably, Managing Member of Mintz’s Los Angeles Office Joshua Briones and Member Ralph Campillo were also named 2020 Leaders in Law firm attorney nominees.
