Mintz Member Jeremy Glaser Appointed as a Board Member of UC San Diego’s Innovation and Entrepreneurial Hub, The Basement
Mintz is pleased to share that Member and Co-chair of the firm’s Venture Capital & Emerging Companies Practice Jeremy Glaser has been appointed as a Board member of the University of California San Diego’s The Basement, a campus-wide innovation and entrepreneurial hub dedicated to supporting all students regardless of department affiliation.
Mr. Glaser has over three decades of experience guiding life sciences and technology companies in their growth and financing strategies. He routinely assists his clients in public offerings, angel and venture capital financings, mergers and acquisitions, and U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission compliance. In addition, Mr. Glaser launched and is a key contributor to MintzEdge, an online resource for entrepreneurs that includes useful tools and information for starting and growing a company. Active in the San Diego business, education, and nonprofit communities, Mr. Glaser is a member of the Board of Directors of the USS Midway Museum, and has served as a member of the Board of Directors of the San Diego Venture Group, which is now part of Connect, for over two decades. Connect elevates entrepreneurs in Southern California by providing educational programming, mentorship, introductions, and access to capital.
Through thought leadership published by MintzEdge and elsewhere, and the expertise of West Coast practitioners in Mintz’s Venture Capital & Emerging Companies Practice, the firm is deeply committed to supporting the San Diego startup and entrepreneurial community. For example, Mr. Glaser recently led a Mintz team that advised Inhibrx, a La Jolla, CA-based clinical-stage biotechnology company focused on developing a broad pipeline of novel biologic therapeutic candidates, in its nearly $137 million initial public offering of common stock. Mintz has represented the company since inception and helped to implement a unique structure to develop and finance its business.
Separately, Mintz has a longstanding commitment to furthering innovation and groundbreaking research from the University of California. The firm represents eight campuses in the University of California system, including UC San Diego, providing comprehensive legal counsel on corporate, intellectual property, and other issues for their researchers and technology-focused innovators, including in the life science sector.
Launched in 2015, The Basement is the flagship incubator for student startups at UC San Diego from the Office of Innovation and Commercialization, providing access to creative innovation space, mentorship, and entrepreneurship programming centered on experiential learning, and innovation resources. Alumni, postdoctoral researchers, faculty, staff, and other community members can also connect with The Basement through open access workshops, event programs, and social media.
