Mintz is pleased to share that Member Pedro F. Suarez has been named to the Daily Journal’s 2021 Top Intellectual Property Lawyers list, which honors leading California intellectual property lawyers who specialize in litigation, transactions, and counseling. As part of this recognition, he was featured in a special report published on April 21.
Mr. Suarez focuses his practice on patent prosecution, strategic counseling, and international intellectual property portfolio development. He has extensive patent procurement expertise representing universities and technology companies in disruptive technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), 5G wireless, and cloud software, among others. He currently serves on the board of EVONEXUS, San Diego's premier incubator. He is also Lieutenant Colonel (retired) in the U.S. Air Force Reserves.
In his winner profile, Mr. Suarez discussed his engineering background and work for longtime clients including software company SAP SE and telecommunications company Nokia to develop and implement innovative strategies to protect their core technologies. In addition, the publication wrote that Mr. Suarez is a “leader in university technology and transfer issues,” highlighting his work for UCSD handling about 180 patent prosecution matters in areas such as face recognition, virtual heart mapping, AI and neutral networks, and more.
