Mintz Named Top-Ten Family Friendly Law Firm By Yale Law Women
Yale Law Women has named Mintz, Cohn, Ferris, Glovsky and Popeo, P.C. one of the nation’s Top-Ten Family Friendly Law Firms for 2016. The annual list recognizes the firm as a leader in developing and practicing family friendly policies, including its flex-time and part-time policies, in-home and on-site emergency child care, and billable hours and compensation practices. This is the sixth time that Yale Law Women has selected Mintz for this important recognition.
“This award is a gratifying recognition of the Firm’s commitment to providing a workplace that supports families and gender equity and of our many ongoing efforts in these areas,” said Meredith Leary, head of the firm’s Women’s Initiative Steering Committee and a Member of the Litigation Section.
Mintz was among the first law firms nationwide to introduce part-time and other flexible work arrangements designed to help all lawyers manage work and family responsibilities, and other interests. The firm approved the first flexible work arrangement for a woman in 1984.
The firm provides numerous benefits to assist attorneys in blending family and work responsibilities, including backup childcare and parenting leaves for birth mothers, fathers, and non-birth mothers. Attorneys may also take four weeks of paid vacation time after their paid leave and have the option to use an extended unpaid parenting leave of up to one year, during which they may continue to participate in the firm’s health insurance plan. The firm extends its benefits to spousal equivalents or domestic partners.
In developing its list of the Top Ten Family Friendly Law Firms, Yale Law Women reviewed National Association for Law Placement (NALP) data for 68 law firms. The organization collected data on each firm’s policies relating to part-time, parental leave, gender equity, billing requirements, professional development, and pro bono policies. All data reflects statistics from the 2015 calendar year and only includes U.S. office locations.
