Mintz Recovers Over $400M for Institutional Investor Clients in 2024
Mintz's Institutional Investor Class Action Recovery Practice has recovered $400 million for institutional investor clients in 2024 and expects recoveries exceeding $500 million by year end.
Mintz’s Institutional Investor Class Action Recovery Practice is comprehensive and global with clients including mutual funds, investment companies, banks, pension funds, trustees, and other institutional investors.
In 2024, the practice has obtained recoveries from US securities class action settlements, US antitrust class action settlements, US SEC Fair Funds, restitution funds established by the US Department of Justice, as well as various foreign actions in Australia, Canada, and throughout the world. In some instances, Mintz’s institutional investor clients have recovered a substantial portion of the available settlement funds.
“Mintz strives to maximize recoveries for its clients and has a track record to go along with it. Increasingly, perfecting a claim for recovery from a settlement fund has become an adversarial process in which claims administrators audit, reject, or find deficient unsubstantiated claims,” said Peter Saparoff, Chair of Mintz’s Institutional Investor Class Action Recovery Practice. “With knowledge of the ins-and-outs of the claims recovery process, we are able to successfully guide clients through the entire claims process.”
In many cases, half of the claims filed by others fail to pass the audit or deficiency process, resulting in claims being rejected without maximining the claimant’s recovery. By contrast, Mintz works with clients and claims administrators, such that Mintz’s clients receive a significantly greater return than the average claimant.
Mintz's Institutional Investor Class Action Recovery Practice consists of attorneys, paralegals, and a research team that tracks all investor class actions, both in the US and abroad. We provide our clients with guidance to ensure our clients identify any transactions that would provide them eligibility for a recovery. This guidance includes identifying for our clients’ eligible transactions in securities class action settlements covering securities traded on various exchanges throughout the world, as well as identifying eligible transactions in the sometimes unique instruments at issue in several large antitrust class action settlements. We are always looking for new avenues of recovery, including, for example, with the recent increase in crypto-related class actions. Mintz’s team has decades of experience filing and perfecting claims, with total recoveries in excess of $9 billion. This comprehensive practice enables clients to fulfill their fiduciary duties.
