Mintz Serves as Counsel to Bond Buyer Deal of the Year Winning Transaction
Mintz is pleased to announce that attorneys in its esteemed Bondholder/Trustee Representation Practice played a significant role in a high profile transaction, which was awarded “Deal of the Year” by The Bond Buyer in its “Innovative Financing” category.
Mintz represented Rosemawr Management, an alternative investment management firm focused on the municipal sector, in its direct purchase of bonds issued by the South Carolina Jobs-Economic Development Authority (SCJEDA), the proceeds of which were loaned to the City of Columbia and the County of Bamberg as the first participants in SCJEDA’s RecoverSC program. The program assists local governments, regardless of their population, to bridge liquidity gaps resulting from lost revenues or delayed collections due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Mintz team was led by attorneys William Kannel and Aaron Williams. Notably, their role included advising Rosemawr on the structuring of the transaction, covenants, operative documents, and closing certificates, as well as conducting due diligence.
Since 2002, The Bond Buyer has been identifying and recognizing the nation’s leading municipal finance transactions and the professionals behind them with their “Deal of the Year” award. In selecting honorees, the publication’s editorial board considers a range of factors including creativity, the ability to pull a complex transaction together under challenging conditions, the ability to serve as a model for other financings, and the public purpose for which a deal’s proceeds were used. The full list of 2021 “Deal of the Year” finalists is available here. Parties involved in the winning transactions will be recognized at an awards gala on December 16.
