Mintz Widens Health Footprint With New Member Kathryn Edgerton
LOS ANGELES – Health Law specialist, Kathryn Edgerton, has joined Mintz as a Member in the firm’s Los Angeles office. She brings with her a wealth of experience acting for hospitals and other health-related organizations on a broad range of transactional, regulatory, and strategic issues.
“We are thrilled that Katie is joining our growing team in Los Angeles. She is well known in the market for her practical, business-focused guidance for clients on all of their operational and transactional matters,” said Mintz Managing Member Bob Bodian. “Her practice is a nice complement to our existing Health offering, and we look forward to working with her.”
Ms. Edgerton’s clients include physician organizations, long-term and behavioral health providers, telemedicine providers, home health providers, and medical spas. She specializes in addiction treatment and behavioral health, and has counseled over 100 addiction treatment providers on day-to-day operations. She has successfully obtained licensure, certification, and accreditation on behalf of clients, including addiction treatment facilities, group homes, adult residential facilities, congregate living facilities, and home health agencies regulated by California's Department of Health Care Services, Department of Social Services, and Department of Public Health.
The transactional side to her practice covers helping clients with the formation of corporations, LLCs, and nonprofits, as well as working with senior executives on a broad range of governance matters.
Ms. Edgerton rejoins Health Member, Lara Compton, who has a versatile legal practice focused on health care regulatory compliance, privacy and security, and physician relationships. Ms. Edgerton and Ms. Compton previously worked together at a health care specialty law firm based in Los Angeles.
In addition to her legal practice, Ms. Edgerton sits as the Recruiting and Diversity Co-Chair for the Health Law Committee, Business Law Section of the California Lawyers Association, and as an Advisory Committee Member for the West Coast Consortium for Technology and Innovation in Pediatrics.
She is the second Member to join the firm this week after the arrival of seasoned litigator Michelle Lipkowitz in Washington, D.C.
Ms. Edgerton joins from Davis Wright Tremaine, and her addition brings the Los Angeles partnership to roughly 50% women.
