Mintz’s Elissa Flynn-Poppey Advises Massachusetts Governor Charlie Baker and Partner Organizations on COVID-19 Relief Fund
Mintz is pleased to announce that Member and Chair of the firm’s Government Law Practice Elissa Flynn-Poppey advised Massachusetts Governor Charlie Baker and First Lady Lauren Baker, One8 Foundation, Eastern Bank and other organizations on the launch of the Massachusetts COVID-19 Relief Fund, which will help support those across the state most impacted by the COVID-19 public health crisis, including frontline healthcare professionals and first responders, immigrants and undocumented residents, individuals with disabilities, the homeless population, and many others.
Kick-started by a lead donation of $1.8 million from One8 Foundation, the family foundation of Massachusetts residents Joanna and Jonathon Jacobson, and administered by Eastern Bank, the Massachusetts COVID-19 Relief Fund has already raised $13 Million. The Foundation for Business Equity and The Boston Foundation are serving as fiscal sponsors for the Fund.
Fund donations will be distributed in partnership with the state’s community foundations that cover counties statewide and other critical nonprofits, ensuring that Massachusetts communities can benefit from access to this much-needed pool of resources.
“It’s gratifying to work alongside Governor Baker, Lauren Baker, Joanna Jacobson, Eastern Bank, and their teams to get this important Fund launched,” said Ms. Flynn-Poppey. “Now more than ever, it is critical that we lift up and support Massachusetts residents and their families, particularly those disproportionately affected by the coronavirus pandemic.”
