Mintz Member and Chair of the firm’s Government Law Practice Elissa Flynn-Poppey has been selected by U.S. Senators Edward J. Markey (D-MA) and Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) to participate in a bipartisan advisory committee to review and provide recommendations on federal District Court candidates across Massachusetts.

The Advisory Committee on Massachusetts Judicial Nominations is comprised of distinguished members of the Massachusetts legal community, including prominent academics and litigators, and is chaired by former U.S. District Court Judge Nancy Gertner. As a Member of the Advisory Committee, Ms. Flynn-Poppey will help solicit, interview, and comment on applications for federal District Court vacancies.

Notably, Ms. Flynn-Poppey was also recently appointed by Senators Markey and Warren to participate in a bipartisan advisory committee to review and provide recommendations on U.S. Attorney candidates for the District of Massachusetts. In this capacity, Ms. Flynn-Poppey and fellow committee members will solicit, interview, and comment on applications for the state's top federal law enforcement officer.

Ms. Flynn-Poppey helps prominent Mintz clients resolve issues at the intersection of law, government ethics, and regulatory compliance. She works closely with private and publicly traded companies, government agencies, individuals, and nonprofits. As a former senior member of former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney’s legal office, Ms. Flynn-Poppey has extensive experience in ethics, legislative and regulatory drafting, government investigations and government compliance. In addition, she is actively involved in a variety of cases for the firm’s pro bono practice, and led the legislative redrafting and developed the strategic plan for the passage of G.L. c. 258E, Massachusetts’ harassment prevention law.
