Mintz’s Raymond D. Cotton to Present at 2013 National Association of Independent Schools Conference
Raymond D. Cotton, a Member of Mintz, Cohn, Ferris, Glovsky and Popeo, P.C. and Vice President for Education of ML Strategies, LLC, will be speaking at the National Association of Independent Schools (NAIS) Annual Conference. The conference will take place February 27 - March 1 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Mr. Cotton’s presentation, “Executive Compensation and Contracts: Best Practices in 2013,” will focus on the elements of a compensation package, annual evaluations, goal setting and IRS compliance. His session will take place on Thursday, February 28.
NAIS is a nonprofit membership association that provides services to more than 1,700 schools and associations of schools in the United States and abroad. The annual conference brings together 4,000 independent school leaders to celebrate the freedom to think creatively and learn in new ways.
Mr. Cotton represents education and other non-profit executives and boards of trustees. His clients include independent schools, colleges, universities, associations, and other non-profits. He has represented over 300 boards of trustees, heads of school, presidents, and other non-profit executives during his more than 25 years in practice. He frequently counsels boards of trustees, heads of school, and presidents on such matters as contracts, executive compensation, performance evaluation, goal-setting, current and deferred compensation, Intermediate Sanctions, Sarbanes-Oxley, and best practices for managing non-profit institutions.
Mr. Cotton is a frequent speaker on the programs of education associations. He is also a regular contributor to the Chronicle of Higher Education. He was listed in the 2012 edition of Chambers USA: America’s Leading Lawyers for Business for Employee Benefits and Executive Compensation in Washington, DC. Mr. Cotton was also named to the 2013 list of Best Lawyers in America for Education Law.
