Paul Abbott, Former General Counsel to MA Department of Telecommunications and Cable, Returns to Mintz
Paul Abbott, former General Counsel to the Massachusetts Department of Telecommunications and Cable, has returned to Mintz, Cohn, Ferris, Glovsky and Popeo, P.C. as Of Counsel, concentrating on matters affecting cable and broadband providers.

Mr. Abbott worked at Mintz from 2001 to 2011 in the Communications and Litigation Sections before undertaking the role of General Counsel of the Department of Telecommunications and Cable, which oversees all telecommunications and cable business in the Commonwealth. He directed all Department orders, advisories, and FCC submissions, oversaw all Department litigation and served as chief legal and policy advisor to then-Commissioner Geoffrey Why. Mr. Abbott began his legal career as a Judicial Intern for the Honorable Norman H. Stahl on the United States Court of Appeals and as a Law Clerk for the Office of the Attorney General of Massachusetts.
Mr. Abbott holds a B.S. in Broadcast Journalism from Syracuse University and a J.D. from Northeastern University School of Law. With his addition, Mintz continues to expand its Communications Practice presence in Boston, where Mr. Abbott will join Geoffrey Why, the former Commissioner of the Massachusetts Department of Telecommunications and Cable, who joined the firm as a Member last month.
