Two Mintz Members Recognized by Lawdragon’s 2021 500 Leading U.S. Environmental & Energy Lawyers
Mintz is pleased to share that two Members have been recognized among Lawdragon’s 500 Leading U.S. Environment & Energy Lawyers for 2021. Specifically, Member and Chair of the firm’s Environmental Law Practice Jeff Porter and Member Susan Phillips were included in the annual edition of the guide, which was published on March 16.
Mr. Porter boasts over three decades of litigation and transactional experience in environmental law, and his clients, including some of the largest global companies, rely on his counsel to address environmental law issues and deliver legal, political, technical, and risk management solutions. As Chair of Mintz’s Environmental Law Practice, Mr. Porter is widely recognized as one of the top environmental lawyers in the country. For over 16 years, he has been consistently ranked in Band One by Chambers USA for Environment in Massachusetts. Active in his community, Mr. Porter serves as Chair of the board of Boston Harbor Now, and is a Trustee of the Massachusetts Environmental Trust, among other involvement.
For 34 years, Ms. Phillips has helped clients solve environmental issues relating to transactions, permitting, and property development, advising purchasers, sellers, lenders, and developers of property with contamination or environmental permitting issues on thousands of transactions. She has deep expertise in advising national retail chains on acquisition, redevelopment, financing and sale leaseback of Brownfield sites throughout the country. In addition to real estate transactions, Ms. Phillips counsels clients in connection with all types of corporate transactions, assessing environmental issues and developing solutions, evaluating and negotiating environmental insurance, and structuring transactions in order to effectively allocate environmental risk. Ms. Phillips has been actively involved with the American Society for Testing and Materials International in the development of various environmental standards. She serves as a mentor for the Commercial Real Estate Women Boston Chapter, and as a board member of the Elizabeth Stone House.
