Venture Market Notches Strong Quarter—Thanks Mostly to One Mammoth AI Deal

The Wall Street Journal’s WSJ Pro Venture Capital featured insights from International Practice Co-chair Larry Naughton in an article about the venture market's strong first quarter, which was lifted by OpenAI's $40 billion fundraise.

Larry said an expected surge in startup deals under the current administration hasn't materialized yet, but investors are still interested in hot companies in fields such as AI.

"I think people want to do deals, but they're nervous," he said. "But when a company checks all the boxes, investors can get pretty aggressive to win the deal."
