ML Strategies Posts Weekly Health Care Update on May 12, 2014
ML Strategies has posted its weekly Health Care Update. This publication provides timely information on implementation of the Affordable Care Act, Congressional initiatives affecting the health care industry, and federal and state health regulatory developments. Highlights from last week include:
- The Sovaldi issue continued to ramp up as a top official from CMS stated that clinical guidelines will play a big part in how Medicare approaches paying for the costly, but innovative, Hepatitis C Drug.
- Stakeholders are intensely focused on the final marketplace rule, expected as early as this week, that will set forth parameters ranging from Medical Loss Ratio calculations to the role of Navigators vs. brokers in the ACA exchanges for 2015.
- The Senate Finance Committee is scheduled to host HHS Secretary nominee Sylvia Matthews Burwell this Wednesday for her second required hearing. The last hearing before the Senate HELP Committee featured rare bipartisan support for her nomination, most significantly from Senator John McCain (R-AZ).
