DHS to Increase Filing Fees Effective 12/23/2016
Effective December 23, 2016, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) will be adjusting the fee schedule for immigration and naturalization benefit requests processed by U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). DHS has not raised filing fees since November 23, 2010. After a comprehensive fee review for the fiscal year 2016-2017 biennial period, USCIS determined that the current fees do not fully recover the cost of services provided. Accordingly, DHS has determined that adjusting the fee schedule is necessary. Under the new rule, any application or petition mailed, postmarked, or otherwise filed on or after December 23, 2016 must include the new fees.
Below we provide two consecutive charts comparing the current and new filing fees for (1) the most common employment-based visa petitions and immigration applications as well as (2) non-employment based visa petitions and applications.
