Monthly TCPA Digest – September 2019
By Joshua Briones, Kara M. Cormier, Russell Fox, Hannah Merrill, and Elana R. Safner
We are pleased to present the latest edition of our Monthly TCPA Digest, providing insights and news related to the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA). In this issue, we cover the FCC’s review of reply comments on several TCPA proceedings, including the proceeding on opt-out call-blocking and two smaller proceedings. You will also find details on a new partnership being established between the nation’s attorneys general and major phone carriers to combat illegal robocalls.
In our update on recent TCPA court decisions, we review the Eleventh Circuit’s Salcedo v. Hanna ruling, in which the court determined, contrary to Ninth Circuit precedent, that the receipt of one unsolicited text message is not sufficient to create Article III standing under the TCPA.
